It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Happy December everyone!! I hope it finds your family healthy and looking forward to Christmas. This year has been a very difficult one for my family, yet with all it's trials we have blessings that overflow. We are looking forward to celebrating Christmas with our children and six grandchildren. I can't believe we have six grandchildren, two were born since last Christmas. We will have three little ones, a grandson seventeen months old, a granddaughter almost twelve months old, and a grandson eight months old that we will be sharing Christmas with this year, as well as, a granddaughter four years old, a grandson six years old, and a grandson nine years old. These little ones fill our hearts with love and joy!! My husband and I love being grandparents!!

New Ribbons Arrived!!

With fall in full swing we are busy adding new items to our Etsy shop. A bunch of new ribbons have arrived and I have been working at listing them to the shop. We have got a new group of glamour ribbons for the girls... hearts, ponytails, zebra stripes.... These are wonderful ribbons. I love the new moonstitch zebra ribbon, the stitching on the edges is actually hand sewed. I loved it so much I have already ordered it in some new colors. Time to share the picture with you. Isn't this ribbon yummy!

It's been so long since I have posted! Life has had it's ups and downs, twists and curves over the last year. I am thankful to be back posting and sharing with you!

I so enjoy the month of November as we prepare for the holidays ahead! The joy of families getting together to celebrate Thanksgiving is a very special time. My Easter Bonnet

I remember back many years, when we all wore our beautiful Easter bonnets to Easter Sunday service and then to our family's Easter celebrations. Do you recall gathering for pictures after that wonderful Easter meal? I do! All the cousins gathering together on Grandma's lawn, we were all decked out in our pretty dresses, hats, gloves and the boys in their suit and tie. There were nine of us together on Grandma lawn in front of her garden. What wonderful times we had!!! Times have changed so much but you can still recapture the times gone buy.

At my shop on Etsy, InspirationCottage, we have lots of pretty things for you to create that pretty hat you once wore. Some of our new products are Ostrich Feather Puffs and new colors of Marabou Puffs. We have a wonderful line of ribbon and flowers to choose from and even pretty iridescent leaves! You may not want to wear an Easter Bonnet now but I think it would make a lovely centerpiece on a side table or hung on a coat hook by the door. Put one on the end of your dresser and let it bring a flood of members from the past.

The Frost Is On The Pumpkin

The frost is on the pumpkin and it's really cold outside this morning! The sunshine is shining brightly on the leaves that are quickly starting to change. It is so pretty! I thought this morning I would post another vintage image for you to enjoy. These images are wonderful for making cards or invitations but, I also like to use them with t-shirt transfers and put them on fabric to make ornaments or favors. For Thanksgiving I ironed the images on little muslin bags and filled them with candies for favors. Everyone enjoyed them, even the men, because they brought back members of time past. I would love to hear or see what you plan to do with the images I post!

God, the most magnificent artist of all!

Dogwoods in Bloom

The spring brings so many beautiful things for our eyes to behold. One of them is the blossoms of the dogwood. The dogwood tree is so graceful and it's blossoms so lovely. Here in Central New Jersey they cover the landscape everywhere you look. My favorte is the one that's blossoms are dark pink! Easter Celebrations

How are your plans coming for your Easter celebrations? My family will be spending Easter at my parents home. My sons and daughter-in-laws will be there with my grandchildren and my brother with his sons. It's always wonderful to be with family.

As usual we are behind on getting things for the grandchildren's baskets. We don't like to give them lots of candy so we try to come up with some new ideas. Our one little grandson has a peanut allergy so we have to be extremely careful what we pick for him. Hubby went to Toys R Us today and really didn't find what we wanted. For my granddaughter we have lots of handmade goodies for her, decorated beanie hats, hairbows, clippies and some felt food for her to play house with.

I still have to decide what I'm going to make for dessert. I also roast onions with butter and rosemary as one of the many vegetable dishes. This week has flown by and I need to get all these things done so it's going to be a busy four days. I'll let you know what I come up with!

This is a such a sweet vintage image!! I hope you will enjoy it! Create a pretty Easter card or decoupage the image on to a lovely box for your daughter, granddaughter or friend. Remember, when decoupaging a graphic image printed on your home printer you need to spray it with a sealer so the ink does not run when putting on the decoupage medium. To save the image right click and save to your own computer. If you want the larger image first left click on the image and it will bring up a larger one that you can then right click on to save. Enjoy!!

I have also printed them out on t-shirt transfer paper and ironed them on little muslin bags for favors. Just fill the little bags with wrapped candy and your guests will love them. Memories of Easters Past

It nice to take time and travel back in your memories to times past. Remember Easter when you were little? The little girls wore their frilly dresses, white gloves, and their Easter bonnets. The little boys were all dressed up in suits with their colorful ties and their shoes all shiny. We celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord at church and then went on to spend the day with family. I always went to my grandparent's home and spent a special day with my family, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family was so very important!

I waited the other day for the big snow storm they said was coming our way. Some say March came in like a lion so it will go out like a lamb. I say with the few inches of snow we got March came in like a lamb so it will go out like a lion. Again the forecasters were wrong. I remember watching the weather reports as a young girl and it seems like they were right more often back then and they didn't have all the fancy gadgets they have today.

My family loves snow! My Mom always said they weren't snowflakes they were little dollar signs coming down. My Dad owns a snow plowing business. So the next time you are unhappy about having snow remember it's the bread and butter on others plates. I am still waiting for a big snow storm this year. I guess I'll probably have to wait till next year.

The Etsy Supply Street Team is sponsoring a "First Weekend Monthly Shopping Extravaganza" . We invite all Etsians of every category to participate by placing an announcement in your shop and join us with promoting your shops on this thread.

You don't have to have a"sale", it's a "Shopping Event" similar to a Public Market Place. ESST will sponsor the Event from Thursday - Sunday on the First Weekend of Each month. (This month's will be February 5-8. Please look for the post "February Shopping Extravaganza sponsored by Team ESST" in the promos section of the forums beginning on Thursday, February 5th around 12:00 AM EDT.)

There will not be a "Overall theme" because we are a Global Marketplace and the seasons, cultures, holidays, etc can vary quite a bit. Although not required, we do strongly encourage shops to have a feature, theme or sale as this can pique interest and help you to draw people to your shop.

You do not have to participate for the whole weekend as we will be posting a fresh new thread each day of the event. You can easily find the new link by checking the last post of the old thread each day.

The only requirement is that you should help promote by joining in and bumping the thread throughout the weekend. Talk about your shop and what you have to offer our shoppers.

Those of you who blog or twitter can post about it and promote to people that are off Etsy to visit us. It will provide the Etsy community with publicity and our shops will be more visible and this will become a monthly event shoppers will look forward to.

I have started working on some new projects and they are so bright and colorful. The first one is a little girl's skirt purse.......... so cute. No, I didn't make the purse but I did have lots of fun embellishing it. See what you think......... I know my little granddaughter Makenzie is going to want one of these. She's only 17 months old but she is a little princess.

The next thing I finished was more barrettes. I enjoy so much creating these little girl items. I have three grown sons and two nephews........ Kenzie was the first girl and I am enjoying her so much!! Well, let's see if I can post these barrettes now or if they'll show up on the top of this post. I've got a lot to learn, lol!!

I guess I have to figure out how to get the pictures in order. Oh well, at lease you can see what I've been up to.

Dedication to my Molly

I started this blog thinking it would help me to move on and concentrate on my little business. After much thought and tears I have to take the time to post a dedication to my precious little puppy Molly. We lost Molly on May 23, 2008 and it has broken our hearts. She came to live with us 7 1/2 years ago. Since then she has captured our hearts. I know some people think of animals as just that but they can be so much more. Molly was a member of our family and my constant companion. She suddenly had to be put to sleep after being examined for what we thought was just a cold. It turned out her lungs were filled with fluid and spots and there was nothing the vet could do for her. They feel she was suffering from cancer. That ugly C word that has taken so many loved ones away. Anyway, I wanted to dedicate my post to Molly, a little shish tsu, that gave us so much of her unconditional love. I miss her so!

My Etsy Mini

I am having so much fun learning all the new things about this blog and my etsy store. My Etsy Mini shows some of the recent items I have put in my shop. Today I received some more supplies in the mail. Cute little puffy flowers, princess crowns, and little crocheted flowers. I have so many ideas for little girl's hair clips and barrettes. My day will be spent with ribbons, flowers, crowns, rhinestones, beads, lace, barrettes and hair clips. Oh, and some new crown stamps I received yesterday also. Hope everyone has a creative day!!

I have finally taken some time to play with my new machine, the Sizzix Big Shot. It's so wonderful to be able to die cut so many items. The picture above is some of the tags I cut today. The other day a box of new dies arrived with the postman. What fun I had cutting things out. I even cut out some wool felt to make flower pins. Anyone else you this machine. I'd love to hear what you like about it!!

Where to start??

That's a question I have been asking myself for awhile now. No answer seems to be coming to mind so I think I'll just jump in with both feet and hope for the best.

I thought I would start by telling you about My Inspiration Cottage. No it's not a little cottage like I would love to have but instead a room full of inspiring things. My craft room is filled with all kinds of things I love and things that make me happy. I have it filled with my favorite colors in all types of crafting media. Fabrics, lace, beads, millinery flowers, buttons, paper, fibers, ribbons, embellishments of all kinds, and of course many patterns. My favorite colors are pinks, greens, lavenders, yellows and the rest are not far behind. My favorites do seem to change with the seasons. Right now with all the flowers blooming my favorites colors seem to be endless.

Recently I opened a shop on Esty. My shop is called Inspiration Cottage and can be found at

I hope to add items daily to help inspire others to open their hearts and create!! Using your own two hands to make something beautiful gives one a satisfaction that nothing else can, IMHO.
